Update: two more Holcroft Blood books coming your way

It’s been a month or so since I blogged on this site so I thought I would tell anyone who is interested what I’m up to in the second half of 2019.

The headline news is, I suppose, that I have a couple more Holcroft Blood yarns heading your way.

Blood’s Revolution (book 2), in which Holcroft gets embroiled in the Glorious Revolution of 1688, will be out in paperback soon. It’s a tale of divided loyalties, near-Civil War, and has our hero on the track of a particularly nasty French spy. That’s out on November 14, and you can get a copy here.

Later the same month, November 28, book 3 comes out in hardback – Blood’s Campaign tells the story of the Williamite Wars in Ireland, featuring the Battle of the Boyne, and loads of other bloody scraps in this brutal war. I’m really proud of this one, and hope you’ll like it too. Pre-order here.

But both of those two books are already written, edited and ready to roll. At the moment, I’m working in my little writing hut on another Outlaw Chronicles book. It’s tentatively called Robin Hood and the Caliph’s Gold, and it has Robin, Alan and the rest, including including the Bavarian man-at-arms Hanno, sailing round the Mediterranean in 1191/92 – just after the events in Holy Warrior (see below; its the one about the Third Crusade) – and trying to steal a shipment of gold. I had a go funding it with KickStarter but that didn’t work so I’m going to self-publish that one, probably in October, and you will hear lots more about it then.

Holy Warrior - Angus Donald

When I’m done with The Caliph’s Gold, ie, when it’s written and edited, I’m going to continue work on a Viking historical fantasy called The Last Berserker. I think this series might be rather special – at least I’m really pleased with the first 40,000 words and the high concept. And I am still hoping to find a publisher for this one. But if that doesn’t happen, and it might well not, I’ll be self-publishing that in early 2020.

So that’s where I’m at in late August 2019. Now I’m going to crack on with The Caliph’s Gold. At the moment our heroes are on board a ship that looks very much like this one, heading for the ancient city of Tunis . . .
