Templar Assassin – a fresh Mongol horde is galloping towards you
I have just finished the copy edit of Templar Assassin, Book 2 in my Mongol Knight trilogy, and sent it back to the publisher for proofreading and publication. That means that, apart from a quick glance at the final proof, Templar Assassin is done and dusted. That’s a weight off my mind before the Easter break.
The story continues the tale of Robert of Hadlow, an English Templar who was captured outside Vienna in July 1241 fighting for the Mongol horde and put on trial as a traitor to Christendom. (This really happened, by the way. The series is based on a true story!) The Mongol Knight trilogy began with Templar Traitor, above, which came out last year, and will conclude with Templar Sacrifice, which will be out, all being well, in the summer of 2027. Although I have not even begun writing that story yet.
The blurb on the back of Templar Assassin (Book 2) goes like this:
September 1241. Robert of Hadlow, Templar knight, is on trial for his life.
Twenty years ago, his accusers say, he turned his back on his Brethren to join the army of the most bloodthirsty warlord the world has ever known – Genghis Khan.
Robert claims he was on a secret mission to bring the Mongol hordes to the defence of the Holy Land to aid its beleaguered Christian knights. But will he be believed? Or will Robert be condemned to a traitor’s death – and bring the entire Templar Order to ruin?
From the endless grasslands of the Eurasian steppe to the burning sands of the Gobi and beyond, Robert recounts his extraordinary adventures with the Mongol army.
A tale of love and loss, tragedy and high adventure, of silent killing and the slaughter of thousands. And what a man will sacrifice to survive, serve his cause and save his family.
The compelling second novel in Angus Donald’s blockbuster new series, inspired by a true story.
If you enjoyed Templar Traitor, I am sure you will love Templar Assassin, which can now be preordered from Amazon as an eBook, paperback and audio book. So click that link and make sure you get one of the first ones hot off the presses. I’m off for a well earned G&T and a bite of supper. Cheers!
