Go on, buy me a horn of foaming ale!

The life of a writer is always financially precarious but, recently, with inflation leaping upwards and the cost of living skyrocketing, things have become particularly rocky. To be honest, things are looking pretty grim. So I am appealing to my readers to lend me a helping hand, to give me just a small tip, a pourboire – you might think of it as buying me a pint, or a foaming horn of ale – to say thank you for the enjoyment my books may have given you over the past decade or so. No pressure, but it would really help me out.

As you know, my books are often on sale on Amazon for just 99p, of which I only get a fraction of the price, which means that I need to sell a vast number of them to make a living, and sometimes I just don’t sell enough to make ends meet. That is the case at the moment. I’m still going to go on writing novels – it’s better to have an inadequate income than none at all – but if you any of you felt kind enough to make a donation to my Ko-fi page, that would be really appreciated. I’ve suggested £5 but anything you can spare would be great. If you feel particularly flush, you might even make it a monthly donation. Or not.

If you don’t want to do that, I quite understand. But you could also help out by buying one of my books in the Fire Born series: The Last Berserker (Fire Born 1), The Saxon Wolf (Fire Born 2) or the most recent one The Loki Sword (Fire Born 3). Leaving a short review on Amazon would also be really helpful. You might also like to know that I have a commission to write three more of them over the next three years, that is, if I can keep the electricity running at Donald Books HQ.
